By now, you've probably heard: Acupuncture works!

What is
Acupuncture? Acupuncture IS awesome! No, seriously, folks...
Acupuncture is a technique that features insertion (by a skilled practitioner!) of hair-thin needles into specific points on the body, to prevent or treat illness. Practiced for over 2,500 years in China, where its benefits have been documented for as long, acupuncture is part of the holistic system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), that views health as a constantly changing flow of energy, or Qi (pronounced "chee"). In TCM, imbalances in this natural flow of energy are thought to result in disease. Acupuncture aims to restore health by improving the flow of Qi. Further, acupuncture provides spiritual sustenance and supports awakening to greater levels of awareness. Essentially, acupuncture circulates the life force, assisting the body to access and cultivate more of this vital force.
Needle techniques vary, and Charles offers an especially gentle approach, one that is influenced by Japanese styles (light insertion, near the surface of the skin). Most patients become deeply relaxed while the needles are in place; many even fall asleep. Typical treatment length ranges from 15 minutes for 'chair style acupuncture', to 30 minutes or more while resting on a massage table.
Charles offers: Traditional needling, auricular (ear) and hand therapies, along with ear and hand 'seeds'-which are needle alternatives, and also highly effective. Additional 'needle free' treatment options include: Herbal medicine, Moxibustion, Cupping and Shonishin (Japanese style, typically used in pediatric medicine). There are options, if you or someone you love is in pain, but afraid of needles. One example: Herbal seeds are placed on acupuncture points, and remain adhered to the spot by a light adhesive, falling off within a few days. Patients simply press gently on the seed area to stimulate the point, in an acupressure style approach, thereby extending the treatment beyond a single clinical visit. Needles can be introduced gradually, over time, or alternatives can be the main treatment.
Herbs are a central component of treatment, and an individual approach is taken to determine your formula. Chinese herbal medicine has been practiced safely for centuries. Herbs have the greatest potential for benefit when prescribed by a trained professional who understands the benefits and risks. Below are commonly treated conditions. Herbal medicine opens up an even greater array of healing beyond this list, providing depth of recovery and setting the foundation for a profoundly strong immune system. The result is a reservoir of vitality and youthful radiance. These are the benefits of long-term health investment.
