Chocolate Bourbon Balls.
Yes, I am talking about the four basic food groups! This trend started after I completed my first half-marathon. My training partner said she wanted to make breakfast after the race with all the four basic food groups to which I responded "Cool, Sugar, Fat, Caffeine, & Alcohol!" (we had bacon, eggs, pancakes, coffee, and tequila sunrises). Many years later during the introductions in my nutrition class, which quickly turned into a dietary confessional (dear father forgive me for I have eaten a doughnut last year during a moment of weakness....). People were claiming that they wished they would eat less of this and more of that... wanting to be vegetarian, vegan, raw, detoxed, or the ubiquitous "eat more healthy". I was tired of hearing people whine about the burden of having abundance of food choices by the time my turn came. When it was my turn, I said "I am an omnivore, happy to be on top of the food chain! My four basic food groups are (you guessed it) Sugar, Fat, Caffeine & Alcohol!" I received a round of applause for that. We live one of the most abundant times on this planet. I am grateful for all the choices I have. When a patient asks for advice on diet, I say eat as much real food as you can. The simpler the better. The least processed the better. The more local the better. Organic is better! Enjoy your food, enjoy your life! Eat well 90% and the other 10%..... Enjoy guilt free then get back to what is best for you!..... Food is not meant to be Dogmatic, it is meant to nourish, replenish and to be enjoyed! Here is a link to a "food" that contains all 4 of the basics.... Chocolate Bourbon Balls.

The often maligned Patchouli is really quite awesome! It has many benefits that include but is not limited to.... reducing stress, is an anti-aging agent, benefits the skin, can be used in house-hold cleaning as the oil has insecticidal properties, can increase libido, and lower cholesterol! This is all according to patchouliplant.com. Where can you find a product that is accessible and easy to use? Great question! A great source for an already prepared oil blend is Lady of the Lotus Botanicals! So, be bold and give Patchouli a second chance or try again for the first time! Peace. My semi-decade round of golf with my brothers is one of the great pleasures in life. A great cup of tea is also one of my greatest pleasures. I can't always get a round in with my brothers but I can always get a rounded tea spoon of my favorite teas from Lady of the Lotus Botanicals! Okay, that was a stretch. I love my coffee but nothing beats a great cup of tea. My favorites are Sage Advice or Heart's Content. By clicking on any of the pictures of tea below, you will be transported to the page that describes the wonderful organic blends available! Whether you are Teeing Up or taking time to sip some Tea, remember to relax, breathe and enjoy the moment! As we continue our New Year celebration, remember to jump in with both feet into whatever you have resolved to do for the New Year. It really that time to go Go Big or Go Home! I say GO BIG, and when you finally make it home, remember to buy my Sage Herbal Products. I Love Coffee! But coffee does not love me. It is definitely a non-reciprocal relationship. I love the smell, the taste, the warmth and much more. The first cup is awesome. The second is disaster. The key is to know your own limitations. Life is meant to be lived and part of that for me is the occasional cup of coffee (give me an occasion and I'll have some coffee!). The key to balance is to know where the edge is and to play with that edge. For me 1 cup good.... 2 cups bad! Sometimes I can sneak another 1/2 cup in small portions later in the day, but most of the time I just stick with one. It is more enjoyable that way! As Clint Eastwood once said "A man has got to know his limitations". Not to discriminate.. so does a woman! Live on the edge... Only you know where that is for you! At this very moment many people are freaking out... thinking isn't it Avagadro's Number?? No, it is Affogato, a delicious dessert of espresso poured over gelato or ice cream. In the pictures to the right the espresso was poured over home made Cardamom ice cream (click picture for location!). And Yes, it was delicious! On the left was the more traditional gelato. Absolutely wonderful. What does this have to do with Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Sage Remedies? It means we all need balance in our lives. Take time out and enjoy your own version of La Dolce Vita! And remember to buy your Sage Herbal Products today!
All photos on this website are copy righted. If you want to use them, let me know! Happy New Year! May you make a BIG splash throughout the new year! I recently read a quote that said "It is better to aim High and miss your target then to aim low and hit it". While you ponder that, have a great year and make a big splashing doing what you love! |
